Mario Andretti - 1978 F1 World Champion - Lotus 79
594mm x 420mm Limited Edition Giclée Print (Limited to 150 prints) with Certificate of Authenticity*

One of the most famous F1 cars of all time, the Lotus 79D became iconic for two key reasons. It was the first car to use ‘ground effects’, a process were the airflow is channelled under the car, giving huge amounts of grip by sucking it to the track. The second reason was the reflective black and gold JPS branding used to cover the beautifully sculpted bodywork.

The 1978 season brought highs and lows to the Lotus F1 team. Its two star drivers, Mario Andretti and Ronnie Peterson, dominated most races and Andretti wrapped up the title at Monza. Sadly that same race cost the life of his teammate after a fiery start-line crash. This painting depicts the all-conquering 79D, sat in the garage, after being driven to victory by Andretti at the 1978 German GP.
