Painting of a Pygmy Hippopotamus. This painting has been created to celebrate Pygmy hippos, an endangered species due to habitat loss, poaching, and human encroachment. Native to West Africa, they rely on dense forests and swamps, which are being destroyed for agriculture and development. Their small, fragmented populations make breeding difficult, further threatening their survival. Conservation efforts aim to protect habitats and prevent extinction.
I have painted the colours in a saturated manner, to emphasise the warmth of an evening sunset on the beautiful creature.
Wildlife is a subject matter close to my heart. I like showing the beauty of nature and making people aware of the many amazing creatures that are becoming endangered.
